Privacy Policy

Speechy (“the App”) is published by Ascend Solutions L.L.C - FZ (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use Speechy on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Windows, Android, or this website.

1. Information we collect

When you use Speechy, we may process the following:

  • Voice recordings and transcripts. When you dictate, the audio clip is sent to our servers (Speechy Cloud) or, if you bring your own API key, directly from your device to your chosen AI provider, to produce the transcript and the formatted text. Recordings and transcripts are processed only to return your result: we do not keep them on our servers after the request completes, and we do not use your voice or your text to train AI models.
  • Dictation history. Your history (what you said and what it became) is stored on your device, not on our servers. You can delete entries or clear it entirely at any time.
  • Account information. Only if you choose to sign in (optional, currently on Apple devices): your email address and name as provided by Sign in with Apple, Google, or email sign-in, used to sync your Pro subscription across devices.
  • Purchase information. Payments are handled by the App Store, Google Play, or Stripe. We never see or store your card details; we receive only what is needed to know a subscription is active.
  • Device and usage information. A random, anonymous device identifier (used to meter the free tier), the app platform and version, and standard request metadata such as IP address, used briefly for security and rate limiting. We may also receive non-identifying crash and performance data.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not show ads.

2. How we use your information

  • Provide the core functionality: transcribing your speech and returning clear, sendable text.
  • Meter the free tier and unlock Pro entitlements you have purchased.
  • Personalize output using preferences you set, such as language and style guidance.
  • Maintain, secure, and improve the App and our services.
  • Communicate with you about updates, features, or subscriptions when you have asked us to.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. Data storage and security

Audio is processed in memory and is not retained on our servers after your request completes. Usage counters and subscription records are stored in encrypted cloud infrastructure. On your device, history is stored locally and API keys you provide are kept in the platform's secure storage (Keychain on Apple, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android, DPAPI on Windows). Credentials are never stored in plain text. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access or misuse.

4. Sharing of information

We share information only in limited circumstances:

  • Service providers. AI processing (OpenAI, and optionally Google), hosting and infrastructure, authentication and sync (Firebase), and payment processing (Apple, Google Play, Stripe), each only to the extent needed to run the App.
  • Legal requirements. If required by law or government authorities.
  • Business transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, or restructuring.

We do not share your personal information with advertisers. Nothing you dictate is ever posted or shared unless you share it yourself.

5. Third-party services

Speechy relies on trusted third-party services, including:

  • OpenAI: speech-to-text and text formatting. Via the API, OpenAI does not use your data to train its models.
  • Google: Firebase for optional sign-in and subscription sync, and optionally the Gemini API for processing if you select it or as a fallback.
  • Apple, Google Play, Stripe: subscription billing on their respective platforms.

These providers have their own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review. If you bring your own API key, your dictations go directly from your device to that provider under your own agreement with them.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of your data.
  • Withdraw consent for data processing (this may affect your ability to use the App).
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format.

To exercise these rights, contact us at ascendsolutionsuae@gmail.com. Most data lives on your device, where you can delete it directly: clear your history in the App, or delete the App to remove all local data.

7. Children's privacy

Speechy is not intended for children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

8. Data retention

Audio and transcripts are not retained on our servers after processing. Free-tier usage counters expire automatically within 48 hours. Subscription records are kept while your subscription is active and as required for accounting. Security logs are kept briefly. Data on your device stays until you delete it. You may request deletion of any data we hold at any time.

9. International users

Your data may be processed and stored in countries outside your residence, including the United Arab Emirates and the United States. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with the “Last updated” date revised accordingly. We encourage you to review this Policy periodically.
